His Holiness Shri 1008 Swami Hari Harji Maharaj

His Holiness Shri 1008 Swami Hari Harji Maharaj was born on the full moon day, in the month of Phalgun in 1899 in Jodhpur.
H.H. Swamiji dedicated the earlier part of his life to the struggle for India’s freedom from the British. During this time, H.H. Swamiji worked with eminent leaders including Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Bhagat Singh. His patriotic fervor had rendered H.H. Swamiji in the British jails in India for several years. H.H. Swamiji never gave up on the struggle for India’s freedom and always kept a copy of the Bhagavad Geeta with him.

Soon after India’s independence, Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru invited H.H. Swamiji to join the Government of independent India. However, H.H. Swamiji turned down the invitation as he had already chosen to embark upon the spiritual path of self-realisation

H.H. Swamiji spent many years doing tapasya. He was ultimately graced by the vision of Lord Sri Krishna. H.H. Swamiji requested the Lord for the benevolence of the vision of Sri Radhaji along with Shri Krishna. They both blessed H.H. Swamiji.

H.H. Swamiji then appeared in Mathura, the birth place of Lord Sri Krishna to carry out the Lord’s wishes to give the Jnana form of Lord Sri Krishna, the Bhagavad Geeta, a home. This led to the establishment of the first Geeta Ashram in Mathura.

H.H. Swamiji devoted his life to propagate the divine teachings of the Bhagavad Geeta to all. He travelled the world, establishing Geeta Ashrams worldwide. Geeta Ashram Malaysia is the first Geeta Ashram that was established outside of India.

It is difficult to find adequate words to sing the glories of this Great Master described as “one of the greatest Tapasvis of the present era” by H.H. Jagad Guru Shankaracharyaji. He is the Geeta incarnated. He is Ramanujacharya in devotion to Lord Krishna and He is Vallabhacharya in His Bhakti (devotion) to the Lord.

H.H. Swamiji travelled extensively till the age of 100 years to dispel darkness and gloom and to weave humanity in the bond of universal brotherhood and peace based on the teachings of the Bhagavad Geeta. Like the Sun, H.H. Swamiji illumined everyone and his love for humanity knew no bounds.

In 1994, H.H. Swamiji set up the Geeta Dham near Jodhpur in Tiwari, Rajasthan. Geeta Dham represents H.H. Swamiji’s vision of spirituality in the midst of the activities while being in harmony with the environment.

H.H. Swamiji left his physical body on 30th March 2000 in New Delhi.

Although he is physically no longer with us, H.H. Swamiji continues to guide us to carry on with the mission to spread the universal teachings of the Bhagavad Geeta.
